Shipton-Under-Wychwood in the Cotswolds

19/2/12 Sandra Mayo - "Excellent cuisine, friendly staff"

We had a 2 night stay in this pub in a very quiet village.  Room was lovely though noisy as directly over bar area.  Food was absolutely terrific. Staff helpful @ friendly. We could not fault food in any way.  The chef is to be congratulated.  In fact we couldn' think of anywhere else we'd enjoyed better cuisine.

21/12/11 Ben Duncan - "Great relaxing overnight stay"

We were looking for a dog friendly English pub full of character where we could get great food a clean room and really friendly staff and that is exactly what we got at the Lamb Inn.  It was great.  The room was lovely, they were really accommodating with our dog and the food was amazing - we both had the roast pork was delicious and the puddings were huge and equally delicious.

13/12/11 Paul Wiggins "We loved  this place and would recommend it"

This is basically a traditional english pub with 5 rooms. I've stayed in loads of places in the Cotswolds and is is probably the best value for money.  Room was clean and in great condition and quite large (we stayed in China Seas Room) compared to other Cotswold hotels.  Bathroom was small and modern with a great shower.  Food was excellent.  Staff were great and dogs are welcome.  The Lamb is about 5 mins from Burford and 15 mins from Witney.  We really liked the fact that there were only 5 rooms and we could take our dog.  The food was great and we loved the relaxed, friendly helpful atmosphere.

11/12/11 Brendan Krause - "Excellent service, friendly staff"

We stayed in the Paris en Provence room for a weekend in the countryside with our dog.  The room is perfect for dog lovers, cozy but not overdone with a fantastic bath tub.  The room is a tad noisy during hours, but we were enjoying the restaurant ourselves, so we didn't mind that at all.  The service was wonderful - very friendly competent staff.  Good food, friendly and efficient service.  Excellent breakfast, good wine list.

05/12/11 Lewis North - "The Lamb is a fantastic place with great food and friendly staff"

We stayed in the Leopard Room and it was great.  Very clean, nice lined and a very comfortable bed.  We ate our evening meal in the pub below and it was fantastic, with really high quality ingredients - delicious!  The breakfast was also very very good.  A lovely selection of fruits, cereals etc and then a choice of full english, salmon and eggs or egg on toast.  We opted for full english and it was beautiful.  The sausages were from a local farm and just delicious.

01/12/11 Christopher Jenkins - "Very Enjoyable"

WE loved every minute of it.  The friendliness of the staff, the excellence of the dinners, the whole atmosphere with regulars in the bar helping no end.  The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the location was perfect.

02/11/11 Stephanie Palmer - "Perfect romantic night away"

We decided to treat ourselves to a romantic night away and wanted somewhere we could simply stay on site to eat. The food in the bar was excellent, as was the lovely. cosy atmosphere with real fire.  The breakfast was amazing and all of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful,

19/09/11 Christine Fleming - "Totally enjoyable experience"

The reviews for the Lamb Inn were very good and I could not find a bad one amongst them so always a bit dubious whether they could live up to them.  I was not disappointed.  Stayed for 3 nights, the food was great, thoroughly enjoyed the pie night (Wednesdays) friendly staff, great atmosphere, rooms were clean and well looked after.  Would stay again and recommend to friends and family

My boyfriend and i wanted a quiet relaxing weekend in the countryside and we love the Cotswolds so chose this hotel for its great revews, location and individual style.  The hotel was full of country charm, the staff were friendly, the food was great and the location was perfect for exploring the local area and with only a few rooms it felt warm and personal.

Two nights Cotswolds getaway with my fiance- we had a wonderful time, went exploring in environs plus a couple of very long walks.  Absolutely fell in love with the Cotswolds.  The rooms was so cute and charming, the staff were very friendly without being intrusive and the food was excellant.  Great location for exploring and genuinely felt welcome and relaxed at The Lamb.

17/06/11 - Gino Napolitano "Lovely, Relaxed Short Break"

We had a very relaxed short break in comfortable, friendly surrounding and would highly recommend this small pub.  The staff were extremely friendly and the food of a very high standard.  We only booked a couple of weeks prior to going away as we had a few days free and were lucky to find this little hotel.

06/06/11 - Catherine Kietz  "A good break"

Restful - as far a company of 20 month old grandson allows! Enjoyed friendliness of staff and character of building.

23/05/11 - Robert  Worsley "Top Notch Inn"

We stayed for 2 nights and had a very relaxing and enjoyable time.  The bed was very comfortable and the rooms were well furnished.  Ate in the bar for both nights and enjoyed some delicious fare.  Highly recommended for enjoying a weekend exploring the Cotswolds.  Food was great particularly the pork belly.  The staff were very friendly and helpful.  Beautifully presented inn and rooms

Lovely stay and had a great meal in the restaurant, highly recommended.  Lovely breakfast too and all the staff were very pleasant and helpful.  A real gem.  The restaurant food was fabulous and the staff all very nice and helpful.  Good location and a great atmosphere, we would stay here again and recommend to a friend.

24/04/11 - Susan O'Connor "fantastic village pub - good food excellent room, staff could not have been more helpful"

4 nights stay-used the Lamb Inn as a base to visit many local towns & villages.  Location is good for exploring the whole of the Cotswolds.  Staff were absolutely brilliant nothing at all was a problem- Sam especially was attentive, helpful & friendly at all times - thanks for a great holiday - would not hesitate to recommend to anyone

30/03/11 - Nina Dhokia - "very enjoyable stay"

Relaxing, Location, friendly staff, weather

28/03/11 - Laura Sharp - "Peaceful and friendly

Comfortable and happy, very friendly with good food.  A great place to tour the area from

11/03/11 - Stephen Roughley - "Very friendly staff and lovely location"

We stayed 3 nights and traveled around the various local areas including Stow-on-the-wold, Bourton-on-the-Water, Cheltenham, Burford and Woodstock.  All places were lovely and well worth a visit.  Our particular favorite was when we went to Blenheim Palace and spent 5 hours wandering around the palace and grounds and still didn't see all of it - we'll just have to go back again! Slight noise from road nearby but only during the day possibly with people going to/from work. Evenings were fairly quiet.  Very friendly staff who were very attentive but remained at a discreet distance only checking if our glasses were empty/food eaten to see if there was anything else we required.  Locals also friendly

28/02/11 - Karen Dunnill - "Fabulous overnight stay at the warm & very welcoming Lamb Inn"

Very welcoming and homely inn, I arrived a few hours before my partner and felt very comfortable as a woman on my own until he arrived.  We only stayed overnight but I would most definitely return, first rate all round.  Great ambience, lovely smell of open fires, welcoming and very friendly staff, really nice breakfast, lovely clean room, fabulous wine!

28/02/11 Ian Clark "Very Friendly Staff, with comfortable accommodation and beautiful surroundings"

I arrived just after 1pm, was greeted by a very friendly, helpful member of staff, put my bag in my room and had a very tasty lunch in the bar.  My friends came to pick me up and having stayed for a quick drink decided we should eat here that night instead of at another pub which had already been booked.  We all had excellent meals, great atmosphere in the bar and again everyone was very helpful.  Had a few drinks in the bar and a good nights sleep.  An excellent place to stay.  Apart from the awesome location the general friendliness of the staff made for a relaxing stay

25/01/11 - Charlotte Rea - "A Perfect Couples Retreat"

A fantastic stay for two tired parents with outstanding food, good wine and lovely people.  Nice and small and quiet! with lots of character
